Mandala means ‘circle’ or ‘completion’ in Sanskrit. It is modernly a generic term that refers to various objects, plans, charts or geometric patterns that can be created and contemplated upon. These patterns represent the Universe from a microcosmic (the smallest) point of view.
In the various spiritual traditions mentioned previously, Mandalas are used to create a ‘sacred place’ and to aid meditation by creating a sense of ‘oneness’ or ‘unity’ with the forces of the universe.
The ancient cross within the circle. The circle represents eternity and the cross is the juxtaposition between the material and the divine. Focus on this symbol to achieve humanity, spiritual and material balance.
