BUTTERMILK RANCH DRESSING

Good buttermilk ranch dressing is truly one of my favorite things in the world, and not just on salad. I love it as a dip for raw veggies or drizzled on steamed ones like broccoli or cauliflower. Of course you can buy it, but nothing can compare to what you can make at home using real garlic and fresh herbs.

PREP: 10 minutes COOK: none COOL: none

       1 cup buttermilk

       1 cup mayonnaise, preferably Hellmann’s

       ¾ cup sour cream

Juice of ½ to 1 lemon, or as needed

       4 garlic cloves, minced

       2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley

       1 teaspoon minced fresh dill

       ½ teaspoon minced chives

       ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

       ½ teaspoon kosher salt

½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1. In a medium bowl, combine the ingredients and whisk until smooth. Taste and add more lemon juice if needed.

2. Transfer to a covered container and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Makes about 3 cups
