Matthew 26–27; Mark 14–15; Luke 22–23; John 13–19
During the festival in Jerusalem, Jesus had a special dinner with his disciples. Jesus took bread and broke it into pieces. He gave the pieces of bread to his disciples. “With this bread, remember me,” he said. Jesus gave a cup of wine to his friends. “With this cup, remember me.”
Then Jesus went to a garden to pray. He knew something bad was going to happen because he had told people about God’s kingdom.
The rulers were worried that Jesus was trying to become king. They decided to get rid of Jesus. Soon soldiers came and arrested him.
Jesus was put on a cross. Before he died, he prayed for the people who hurt him. Jesus said, “Forgive them, Father. They do not understand about God’s kingdom.”
