III
As was noted in chapter 1, an inherent feature of the scientific method is that the knowledge gained from using it can nearly always be repeated and thereby verified by others. In order to make this replication possible, those who conduct scientific research must spell out in detail how they obtained their findings, so that anyone who wants to recheck any aspect of those findings can do so. In the upcoming two chapters, you will learn important procedures and rules for ensuring that the discoveries you make can be verified by others.
Chapter 5 concentrates on how research reports are organized and structured. In chapter 6, the focus is on measuring variables accurately.
