Laura Aquili (born in 1973) and Ergian Alberg (born in 1972) have worked for companies such as Zaha Hadid Architects, OMA, UNStudio, ONL, and Fuksas. Their first job as independent designers was the VERTIGO coffee table, which was the beginning of their collaboration with Moroso. They have also participated in the design of Prada boutiques in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. They work for many clients, including Moroso, Fiam, and Kundalini, as well as publishing articles in various Italian design magazines.
The outstanding design of the Sigmy was inspired by the perception of motion and the combination of lines, lightness, and buoyancy. Its form is reminiscent of the Greek letter sigma, which gives it its name.
