Alejandro Gomez Stubbs is the founder of the small studio Malagana. After receiving his degree in architecture in 2003 and completing a master’s degree in industrial design in 2007, Stubbs went to work for Clodagh Design, where he carried out projects for clients such as W Hotels Worldwide. In 2008, he won the Design+Modern+Function Award, and in 2009 he opened Malagana Design, which launched the successful EQUILIBRIUM line in 2012, capturing the attention of the international design community.
The Equilibrium bookshelf comprises various modules stacked in an original way: each block is supported on just one corner, as if it were floating. The walnut bookshelf can support up to 158.7 pounds (72 kilograms) and measures almost 6.56 feet (2 meters) in height.
