Gerwin Hoogendoorn, Gerard Kool, and Philip Hess could not have imagined how far they would go with the production and launch of their first prototype, a concept that Hoogendoorn devised for his final degree project. When the new product, the Senzº Storm Umbrella, was launched in the international press, sales rocketed, reaching ten thousand in just ten days. The studio won the Red Dot Award in 2007 and the iF Award in 2009.
The Senzº is an aerodynamically designed umbrella that can withstand winds of up to 62 miles (100 kilometers) per hour without turning inside out or breaking. Thanks to its innovative frame, the umbrella moves against the force that is pushing it instead of being defeated by the pressure.
