NIKKI MERCEDES DIAZ

This is my beautiful grandmother Mercedes when she was dating, or just married to, my grandpa Al. When she was sixteen, she came from Puerto Rico to New York City with nothing and made a beautiful life for herself. She raised me, and she’s one of the most selfless people I have ever known. I hope I become half the woman she is.

Unfortunately, she got dementia early on and is now in a nursing home. I show all the nurses this photo so they can see what a gorgeous woman she is.
