CASSANDRA TALABI

This is my mother, Laine, on her first day as program coordinator for the youth at the Haitian Catholic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I know she was smiling not because of her title but because she was able to make provisions for herself. As time grew, providing for one turned into providing for five. Thirty-two years later, she is now working in education and still finding ways to help the kids she engages with every day.
