Preface

Who can resist a bowl full of wholesome goodness, garnished with tantalizing toppings? I love regular smoothies, but I’ve also become a fan of smoothie bowls of late.

A smoothie bowl is a delicious, filling, and nutritious twist on classic “porridge,” only containing extra ingredients and much more flavor. A smoothie bowl is ideal for breakfast, a snack, a quick lunch, or even a dessert—depending on what ingredients you use. It has a thicker consistency than a regular smoothie and contains more energy because it’s packed with fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and healthy fats. I usually use toppings to garnish it: homemade muesli and granola, fresh and dried berries or fruits, all kinds of nuts and seeds—even vegetables. A smoothie bowl should be thick enough to be eaten with a spoon.

The nice things about smoothie bowls are the variety of flavors and combinations, the fact that most ingredients keep well in the freezer or pantry, and the fact that you can make a smoothie bowl in less than five minutes. Say goodbye once and for all to those boring breakfasts: eat your fill, balance your body, and get the energy you need to cope with the demands of everyday life.

All the recipes in the book are raw, soy-free, and vegan. A small number of the recipes contain honey and/or bee pollen among the ingredients. Obviously, you can replace honey with agave syrup or drop the bee pollen completely. These days, stores offer plenty of alternatives to dairy products on their shelves and, indeed, the supply has never been more abundant. Nor has the demand. If you wish, you can also use “regular” dairy.

Treat yourself to a tastier and healthier life. Your body will reward you—your digestion will work perfectly, your energy levels will become far more balanced, and you’ll be much happier and more stable. Happy people spread joy.
