Functions of the Instant Pot

On the Instant Pot panel, there are various settings for different cooking options. The settings indicate the pre-programmed cook times for various types of food as follows:

Multigrain:

Mainly for cooking the harder grains like wild rice and brown rice.

Porridge:

For cooking cereals/grains into an oatmeal-like consistency.

Sauté/ Browning:

Mainly for sautéing with the cooker lid open.

Beans/Chili:

For cooking different types of beans, but note that this should not be used for cooking meat-based chilies.

Soup:

Can be used for preparing broth and soups.

Slow Cooker:

The Instant Pot performs any task of the slow cooker, without using pressure.

Meat/Stew:

For stews, pot roast or any cooked meat.

Rice:

As the name suggests, this setting is used to cook rice

Steam:

Use this setting as you would a regular steamer, for your vegetables.

Poultry:

Ideal for cooking all your poultry items.

Manual:

Allows you to customise your options manually in case you do not desire to use the pre-programmed time settings.
