Epilogue

Intruders

Elizabeth

“Don’t stop, Chayton,” I moan as he continues to push his length inside me.

He has one hand against the tree behind me and the other holding up my leg as he swivels his hips between my thighs. He sucks at the salty skin on my neck right over my mating mark, and I leak once more for my third orgasm.

It’s been three weeks since the day we took down Kamyra. We’ve been busy combining the pack lands between Springhill and Dark Wood. Chayton was able to obtain the thin property line that stretches between the two neighboring territories. He is now the Alpha to the largest pack in the Northwest.

My man is handling things, and at the moment one of those things is my pussy. I cry out once more as Chayton finds that spot deep inside me. Soon after he strokes me into another orgasm this time, he stills as he follows me into the euphoria.

He pulls out of me once he’s finished spilling inside of me. Stumbling back, he lets go of my thigh. We’re both naked, our clothes lying around us in a heap.

“You think we did enough research for your next scene?” he asks out of breath.

I love how dedicated my husband is to making my books believable. I mentioned only once to him I had a sex scene against a tree to write. He immediately volunteered his services.

I smile as I fight to catch my breath. “I think I have plenty.”

He winks and grins before picking up my leggings and T-shirt off the ground, handing them to me.

“I have an early day tomorrow. The Alpha of Summerlake pack wants to meet with me this week. We are trying to arrange a meeting.”

I slip my shirt over my head, trying not to think about how badly I need to take these braids out.

“You think he’s mad about me killing Kamyra?” Summerlake is the pack Kamyra came from.

“I doubt it. He seemed pretty happy when I told him she was dead. I think he wants closure for his mate. Either way, he has to know I’d go to war with him before I let anyone hurt my true mate.” He leans in and places a kiss on my forehead before returning to pulling up his jeans.

I’m still suck on the last statement.

“What do you mean your true mate?”

He stops moving and gives me his undivided attention. “I kind of figured it out right before the fire. Once I thought about it, it made sense. The fact that we probably should have never met, the way my wolf claimed you immediately and sent you into heat. Hell, even the way my son connected with you, it was all right in my face. You are my true mate. It’s why the moon goddess found so much favor in our mating. The moment Kamyra died, the spell she had over me was lifted and I saw you for what you truly were.”

Honestly, it didn’t matter if I was his true mate or not. I’m his wife, the mother of his children, and his Luna. The title of true mate doesn’t change much, but it does feel good to know that we are connected on a stronger level.

Chayton goes back to fastening his pants.

“Still no word from your cousin?” I ask, going back to our earlier train of thought.

Vilkas fled as soon as Chayton and the guys left his land. Chayton says he isn’t concerned because he only left with less than seven scouts, but I have this bad feeling about that guy. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of him.

“No. He’s in the wind. Too bad, because I would like to kick his ass for how he left the pack. All of the finances were gone. Springhill is bankrupt.” He shakes his head, his wavy brown hair brushing his shoulders.

After pulling my leggings up, I slip my feet into my shoes. Chayton takes my hand in his and leads us back to our borrowed cabin. I guess being with the pack for so long and getting use to the way they communicate, I can now feel when something is wrong. Chayton senses it too.

The crunch of branches alerts me to nearby intruders. Chayton is in front of me and in wolf form in a heartbeat. Right in front of us two people covered by shadows step out of the tree line.

Chayton growls warning the newcomers not to take another step. My new pregnancy superpower kicks into effect. A scent so familiar to me, it could be my own drifts through the air.

“Michaela?” The figure in the front comes forward allowing the moonlight to cast the dark shadows out of her face.

Michaela has always been tall and thin. It’s one of the reasons we bonded as the two tall black girls in our class. She’s a lighter brown skin than me with light brown eyes and wild curls.

“Hi, Elizabeth.” My mouth darn near hits the ground. What is my best friend doing here and with her baby sister nonetheless? I head toward her but get intercepted by my now in human form mate. I quickly realize my husband transformed in front of my human bestie. Fear washes over me as I remember the implications of such actions.

“Oh my god, Michaela. I can explain, I can—” I try to say but Chayton cuts me off with a hand on my arm.

“No need to explain, baby,” he says.

I turn to him confused. “What? Why?”

“Because I’m like them, Liz.” A feather could have knocked me on my ass. I was not expecting that. I’ve known this girl since elementary school. She’s spent many nights at my house, she was a permanent fixture there. There’s no way she can be a shifter.

“Not exactly one of us, Vampire,” Chayton growls.

What the actual hell?

“I know you’re confused,” she goes on to say. “And I’ll explain everything, but I need to know if your mate will grant us permission to join his pack.”

“Of course, he will,” I answer quickly, but neither she nor Marley moves an inch. I realize then she’s still waiting for Chayton.

I turn to my husband trying to figure out why he hasn’t given permission yet. He watches the both of them closely.

“What are you waiting for. Tell them they have permission,” I demand.

He never takes his eyes off them. “What’s after you?”

Michaela’s shoulders slump and her face falls. “Something bad. Something very bad.
