THE ELECTRIC COFFEE MAKER

The electric coffee maker was invented in the 1950s, but it was only in the 1970s that it really caught on and became popular.

Gives a balanced cup in which the acidity is less pronounced than with a manual V60. This coffee can also be said to be less developed, with less flavor complexity (the flavors are not so clear-cut).

THAT’S GRAVITY!

The cold water from the reservoir is drawn by gravity toward a chamber where an electric element heats the water to more than 194°F. The hot water passes through a tube to a shower screen, from which it drizzles slowly down onto the ground coffee sitting in a paper filter below. The coffee extracted by gravity trickles into a carafe placed beneath the filter basket, which sits on a hot plate to keep the brewed coffee warm as the rest filters through.
