Go ahead and celebrate! Dazzle birthday celebrants with a fun and clever candle decorating idea, not to mention a moist and delicious cake!
1 Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Make, bake and cool cake as directed on box for 2 (8-inch or 9-inch) rounds.
2 While cake is cooling, place candles in warm water until soft and pliable; wrap each candle around pencil. Cool candles about 15 seconds; remove pencils.
3 Place 1 cake layer rounded side down on serving plate. Spread with about ⅓ cup of the frosting. Top with second layer, rounded side up. Frost side and top of cake with remaining frosting. Arrange candles and wafers on cake.
