ABOUT THE AUTHOR

WESLEY VAN TASSEL was an acclaimed director—more than one hundred productions staged—and a skilled acting teacher—more than three hundred professional and student actors trained for acting Shakespeare. As emeritus professor, he taught occasional Shakespeare acting workshops. He served as artistic director of three professional theatres and four college/university theatre programs.

Broadly educated, he earned degrees in mathematics, general sciences, and secondary education before taking advanced degrees in theatre directing and world dramatic literature, with a strong emphasis on Shakespeare. He published peer-reviewed articles in World Theatre and The Educational Theatre Journal, and he received high praise for his book Clues to Acting Shakespeare, which helped him to earn the prestigious Scholar of the Year award at Central Washington University. Earlier, he was awarded the Teacher of the Year award at Tarkio College.

Wesley Van Tassel lived with his wife, actress Dude Hattten, near their two grandchildren in Casper, Wyoming.
