Words to Treasure
Then the LORD God formed a man. He made him out of the dust of the ground. God breathed the breath of life into him. And the man became a living person.
Genesis 2:7
Tommy was about to open the door to the Learning Assistance Room. A kid behind him sniggered. “That room’s for dummies.”
Tommy turned around, “I’m dyslexic, which means my brain works differently than yours. But if I’m stupid, so are Albert Einstein, John Lennon, Thomas Edison, and Henry Ford. If they’re dummies, so am I.” The boy didn’t know what to say.
The simple truth is that we’re not all made the same way. But that’s all good. Some people are great at some things and not at others. Some people can sing, some are good at sports, and some people learn different ways. It doesn’t mean one person is better than another; it just means we do things differently. Tommy mentioned some extraordinary people who learned in different ways. They may have had trouble with some things like reading but were incredible at other things such as inventing things, acting, or unlocking some of earth’s mysteries. They were creative, talented, and successful at what they loved doing. God made you exactly the way you are with no mistakes. If you ask God, he will show you how to turn your brain into the most amazing machine around. You’ve got what it takes!
