Words to Treasure

But his heart became very stubborn and proud. So he was removed from his royal throne.

Daniel 5:20

Peterson ran off the field to get the soccer ball, but instead of handing it to the other team, he just dropped it on the ground and walked away. That was rude. Coach Dillon watched Peterson, and he didn’t like what he saw. Peterson had scored three goals, but his behavior was terrible. He had argued with the referee, yelled at his own teammates, hogged the ball, and called the other team’s players names. Peterson was a walking, talking bad attitude. The fact that he was the highest goal-scorer on the team just gave him an enormous ego and even more of a problem.

After the game, Coach Dillon called Peterson over. “You scored a lot of goals today. But you’re not a team player. In fact, your behavior out there is rude and embarrassing. I can’t have a team captain acting like that, so I’m going to make Rick the new team captain. You need to clean up your act.” Peterson was shocked all over.

Being good at something also means having a good attitude and treating other people with respect. Good sportsmanship in everything you do makes you the best.

God gave success to the tough guy king, Nebuchadnezzar. His Babylonian empire was huge and powerful. But this king got proud, so God took away every good thing he had blessed Nebuchadnezzar with, and then some. Neb went from a powerful king to living like a wild donkey. Attitude counts!
