Together at Last

Words to Treasure

So my God gave me the idea and encouraged me to gather the people together.

Nehemiah 7:5

Joey, Wendy, and Sandra and the neighborhood of “good Samaritan” guardians not only protected the community garden from vandals, but also started working in the garden. Now, the neighbors felt that it was their garden too. People bought more seeds, brought in new plants to plant, and hammered together more garden boxes. Someone even donated a fountain for the middle, with a couple of benches to sit on.

Soon birds, butterflies, and even little frogs had found their way to the pretty neighborhood garden. And every evening, people would stroll and talk in the garden. Neighbors got to know neighbors they had never met before. The garden soon became the gathering place for everybody.

Where there had once been just trash and dirt, now there was a little bit of paradise in the big city. All because of neighborhood heroes and the never-give-up threesome: Joey, Wendy, and Sandra!

A garden isn’t really a garden until people enjoy it together. After all, God created our planet to share with each other.

Did You Know?

Did Know? Did you know Nehemiah brought back to Jerusalem some of the families that had been taken away by the Babylonians? This included 42,360 people with 7,337 slaves, 736 horses, 245 mules, 435 camels, and 6,720 donkeys. Why do you think there were so many donkeys?
