People’s Choice

Words to Treasure

God made Solomon very wise. His understanding couldn’t even be measured.

1 Kings 4:29

Vince studied the TV screen, almost ready to rent his movie. His dad came in with the popcorn and looked at Vince’s selection with a little frown. “So, can I watch this one?”

His dad read the description. “What do you think?”

Vince reread the description and looked at the picture. “Vampire zombies take over New York and only one man can stop the carnage. Total annihilation of humanity or one man’s battle to save the world.” Vince shrugged, “Sounds good to me.”

His dad grimaced. “You’re joking, right?”

“Nope.”

“Okay, this is your pick,” his dad warned. “If we rent it and it isn’t appropriate, no movie tonight.”

Vince did lip twists with his mouth. “Okay, I’ll find another one.”

Learning to make smart choices is important. Not just in movies but in all kinds of things like games, books, websites, and a ton of other activities. Our choices tell the world what we value and what we think is worthwhile. When we make smart, right choices that’s called good judgment. And that’s impressive.

Did You Know?

Did you know we make hundreds of little and big choices all day long, from when to wake up in the morning to whether or not it’s a good idea to stuff peanut butter in your sister’s shoes? (For the record, nixes on the peanut butter. Do that, and your sister’s anger can’t be measured.)
