Junk Pirate

Words to Treasure

Then God said, “I am giving you every plant on the face of the whole earth that produces its own seeds. I am giving you every tree that has fruit with seeds in it. All of them will be given to you for food.”

Genesis 1:29

It was like a treasure chest that was never empty. It was the candy machine across the street at the gas station. Rows and rows of candy bars, potato chips, and gum. Nigel loved everything about it. The sound of his change going in and the thud of the candy as it fell to the bottom of the machine. Then reaching in and pulling out the candy. Every afternoon Nigel did the same thing — he bought candy. Lots of candy.

Nigel, did you ever hear of an apple, orange, or any kind of fresh vegetable?

Candy is great, but only sometimes — not all the time. Your body cannot live on sugar and chocolate. And that goes for other junk food too. It just isn’t healthy. God made your body to be like a high-performance sports car. You don’t want to clog it up with bad fuel. You won’t be racing anywhere with a gummed-up engine. As tempting as it can be, walk away from that coin-eating candy chest and find some high-performance food. Go get some muscle-building, brain-boosting, naturally good-for-you food. Junk the junk food.

Did You Know?

Did you know there are more than 50,000 different types of plants you can eat in the world? That’s not junk.
