Never a Wrong Move

Words to Treasure

Don’t worry about anything. No matter what happens, tell God about everything. Ask and pray, and give thanks to him. Then God’s peace will watch over your hearts and your minds. He will do this because you belong to Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6 – 7

It was the first time C.C.’s dad had let her help round up cattle in the high country. It was a tough job, with long, hard hours riding horseback and in trucks. Her grandpa wasn’t sure a kid should go at all. But, C.C. was hoping someday she’d own the ranch. She sat on top of the corral fence and prayed quietly to herself. “Dear God,” C.C. whispered, “please help me do the best job I can. Protect everybody — the horses, the dogs, the cattle, and Grandpa. Amen.”

Starting anything big or small with prayer is always a good idea. It means we put God first in everything we do and that we want him involved from the very beginning. Prayer is always the first and right move.

People in Bible Times

Nehemiah was a cupbearer to the Persian Emperor Artaxerxes. But Nehemiah’s heart was for his homeland and his people in Jerusalem. He had heard reports that the people were having trouble and the city was kind of destroyed. He was very sad and prayed to God about the people of Israel day and night. Nehemiah’s first prayer was the first step in an amazing adventure God had planned for him. Nehemiah the cupbearer was going to rebuild a city. Imagine that! (See Nehemiah 1:4 – 11.)
