Words to Treasure
He does wonderful things that can’t be understood. He does miracles that can’t even be counted.
Job 5:9
Willa and Sal sat on the rock with the swirling current below them. They hadn’t noticed the tide coming in until it was too late. The sandbar they had hiked along to get to this great fishing spot was now gone, and the water was rising up the rock. Willa prayed that the tide would stop and that it wouldn’t cover the rock before somebody noticed them. The tide crept up and up, covering the barnacles and mussel shells. The sky was getting dark, and she worried nobody would see them from the shore. They had shouted until their throats were hoarse.
A voice called out of the growing darkness. “What on earth are you kids doing there?” A kayaker slid by silently. “I thought I heard somebody shouting. I’ll go back and get my rowboat. Crazy kids.”
Billions of people pray different prayers every day, and God answers them all in different ways — sometimes the way we expect and sometimes not. But the important thing is that God hears each of our prayers. You’re never alone. God can and will do amazing things. Little and big miracles happen every day.
People in Bible Times
When Joshua went into battle, he wasn’t alone. When he talked, God listened. One battle with the Amorites, God made armor-denting hailstones storm down, killing most of Joshua’s enemies.
