Boring!

Words to Treasure

Be filled with joy in the sight of the Lord your God. Be joyful in everything you do.

Deuteronomy 12:18

Mitchell slumped on the bench, oozing attitude. He was determined not to have a good time at the amusement park. When he got off the fastest, most looping rollercoaster, he acted as if he didn’t like it. When he tumbled out of the Pirates Cove, he said it was boring. He didn’t like his food at lunch, and he couldn’t find anything good to buy. This might be the happiest place on the planet with the most amazing rides going, but he was not going to have a good time. This was all boring.

Mitchell thought everything in his world was boring. He had decided that acting bored was a cool attitude. Nobody can make fun of you if you don’t like anything or anyone first. People go out of their way to try and please you, especially your parents — being bored works.

Being bored doesn’t work. Being constantly bored or negative on purpose sucks all the fun out of your life. It also makes you kind of boring to be around. Nobody wants to hang out with someone who is down on everything. That’s no fun! Soon people will stop inviting you to do things. So stop acting bored! God wants you to get excited about life and the amazing world he created for you. Go have fun. Bored is boring.

Did You Know?

Do you yawn when you’re bored? We still don’t know why people yawn or why yawning seems to be contagious. Nobody has figured it out.
