A Family Thing

Words to Treasure

I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and my sheep know me.

John 10:14

Quinn hit his alarm clock with his dirty sock. Then he hit it with his shoe. Then he hit it with his baseball glove and knocked it clear off the dresser. It stopped. He didn’t want to go to church anymore. He wanted to stay home and sleep. He’d been going to church since he was born. How much more did he need to learn about God anyway?

Well, here’s the truth: if Quinn studied every day for the rest of his entire life, he’d still be learning new mysteries about God. God’s a very big subject. Best of all, there is one more important thing Quinn needs to know, and you need to know too.

Important study note: Jesus and God are completely into you. They want to know everything there is to know about you: what you’re thinking, how you’re feeling, and how it’s going. God doesn’t find you a boring subject. God wants to learn more about you every day. Be the same way back!

Jesus came to earth to teach us about his heavenly Father so we can understand and love God more. Jesus also wanted us to know that God loves us exactly as a good father loves his son or daughter. God loves us the same way he loves Jesus. You are God’s adopted kid! Very cool. (See John 17:25 – 26.)
