Words to Treasure
If you greet only your own people, what more are you doing than others? Even people who are ungodly do that.
Matthew 5:47
Dustin and Gordon were waiting at the airport for their Uncle Marty. They held up their homemade “Welcome to Ireland” sign. They waved to all the travelers who entered the arrival lounge. Their friendliness brought big smiles.
One man walked over and shook their hands. “Thank you for the welcome!” he laughed. A little girl ran over and hugged Dustin’s knees.
“Hey!” Uncle Marty shouted from the doorway. He walked over and playfully wrestled with his nephews.
Everybody wants to feel welcomed and appreciated sometimes. So whether it’s at church, school, your sports team or the airport, say hello to someone else who could use a smile. Using signs is, of course, optional.
Did You Know?
Did you know people greet each other in different ways around the world? In some cultures, people bow their heads or bodies toward each other; others place their palms together; lots of them kiss each other on the cheek; and some of them snap their fingers or even back-slap.
