Only Takes a Second

Words to Treasure

Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good. His faithful love continues forever.

1 Chronicles 16:34

Sharon saw the wave heading toward the beach. She could see that it wasn’t dangerously wild, but it wasn’t embarrassingly little either. Her father pointed at the line of water and he nodded at her. This was the one! Sharon pushed herself halfway onto the boogie board and clutched the sides of it, waiting for the wave to hit. In a rush of water, she felt the surf pick her up and push her forward. For a few seconds she let the wave take complete control of her board, and it was as if she was flying across the water toward the beach. Then, just as suddenly, she was dropped into the sandy shallows. Laughing, she rolled off her board and sat up in the warm water. She looked across the beach at the colors of the setting sun. This had been a perfect day. She smiled and whispered, “Thank you, God.”

Did you know thanking God isn’t just a Sunday-at-church thing? It can be an everyday thing. If you’re enjoying something, take the time to thank God that very second of that very day. God wants to share your good times.

When the great King David was just a young shepherd hanging out with his sheep, he often looked up at the stars and was so thankful for the amazing universe God had created that he even wrote songs about it. Now, that’s an example to follow.
