Moment by Moment

Words to Treasure

My sadness has worn me out. Give me strength as you have promised.

Psalm 119:28

Wendy wiped a tear from her face. Last week her kitten had gotten very sick, and it hadn’t gotten better. It had died. She loved her kitten and already missed him so much it made her body hurt. She wondered what she could have done to stop him from getting sick. Or was God punishing her for something bad she had done? This was the worst day of her life.

Sometimes sad things happen for no reason. The truth is, Wendy took good care of her kitten, but he just got sick. It wasn’t her fault, and it wasn’t because God was punishing her. God loves her — just as he loves us all very much. We can’t avoid hard or sad times, but we can face them knowing that Jesus is walking beside us every step of the way. When you are having a hard time, pray and ask Jesus for the strength and courage to get through it. He cares.

Live It!

Wise King Solomon knew life is full of all kinds of moments. Moments when you cry, and moments when you laugh. Times when you work hard, and times when you rest. Being sad sometimes is part of living the life God has given you. You may be having a hard day today, but there are lots of happy moments waiting for you too.
