Words to Treasure
Leave your gift in front of the altar. First go and make peace with your brother. Then come back and offer your gift
Matthew 5:24
Joel walked into church and looked around for friends to sit with. He spotted Cam and Devon and made a mental note to sit on the side of the church far from them. He had had a huge fight with them this week. Now they weren’t speaking.
Joel’s pastor slid in beside him. “I notice you’re not sitting with Cam and Devon. There a problem?”
Joel nodded his head knowingly. “They must have talked to you.”
His pastor eased back in the pew. “A little. Before we get into worship, I’d like it if you guys worked it out. Make it right with each other.” Joel glanced at Cam and Devon, and they glanced at him. “If you want, I can referee. Let’s go talk with them.” Joel followed his pastor to go patch up a broken friendship.
Jesus encouraged us to patch up problems with others before we go before God in church or in our prayers. Problem fixing is just the right thing to do.
