What Does It Take?

Words to Treasure

When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God. Praise him for the good land he has given you.

Deuteronomy 8:10

Cindy looked at the fried worms and snails in the frying pan. “You’re kidding me, right?”

Her camp counselor shook her head. “Two days living off the land — that’s what it takes to get your survival badge. This is all we could find to eat.”

Cindy picked up a hot piece of snail meat. “I’ll eat the snail, but I’m not eating the worm.”

Actually, Cindy was happy at this point just to be sitting by a warm fire. It had taken them ages to start a fire with no matches. She promised God that she was never again going to complain about dinner or anything else at home. From now on, she would be thankful all the time.

Be happy with the simple gifts God has given you, things such as the home you live in, the food you eat, and all things you have that make your life easier. After you become content, then you can be generous with somebody else who’s in more need than you are.

Did You Know?

Did you know there are more than 1,900 different types of insects eaten all over the world? So push aside those mashed potatoes and make room for some yummy crickets, worms, centipedes, ants, and much more. Can you supersize that?
