What about Tomorrow?

Words to Treasure

So don’t worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Matthew 6:34

Carson passed another nail up to his dad. They were working hard to cover all the windows with plywood before the big storm hit sometime tomorrow. “So, what’s really going to happen tomorrow?”

His dad snapped his fingers for another nail. “I don’t know.”

“Is our house going to get sucked out to sea or what?”

His dad had just hammered his finger and was shaking it around. “Carson, I don’t know.”

“Do you think we’ll be safe at Grandma and Grandpa’s? Is it far enough inland?”

“I don’t know. I think so.” His dad climbed down the ladder.

“Dad?”

“WHAT?”

Carson picked up the box of nails. “What do you know?”

His dad put the ladder against the bay window. “I know that we should worry about today before we worry about tomorrow.”

That’s right! Worrying about the future is kind of pointless and a bit of an energy-waster. Focus on today and what needs to be done today. Let tomorrow come and then deal with that day on that day. Being prepared is important — freaking out about the unknown isn’t going to get you anywhere. What’s going to happen will happen, and you’ll be able to handle it when it comes.

Did You Know?

If you live to be 80 years old, you’ll have had 29,219 tomorrows not to worry about. Maybe you can start today to not worry about tomorrow.
