Words to Treasure
They should care for their own family. In that way they will pay back their parents and grandparents. That pleases God.
1 Timothy 5:4
It was Hannah’s birthday, and Grandma Sadie had invited friends and family over for a big ranch BBQ. Hannah’s mom got some time off to come for the weekend. Hannah had talked Grandma Sadie into hanging a big rope from the hayloft in the barn. It was almost like flying when she let go and landed in the soft hay below. This was the best birthday party Hannah could ever remember.
Grandma Sadie watched the kids for awhile, and then called Hannah over. They took a walk on the dirt road behind the barn. Grandmother put her arm around her. “You like my ranch?”
Hannah chewed on some grass. “This is the best place on earth. I could live here and take care of the ranch forever.”
“Glad to hear it.” Grandmother brushed the hair from Hannah’s face. “That’s why I’m going to leave you the ranch when I die. Someday this will be yours. Happy birthday, Hannah!” Tears of happiness came to Hannah’s eyes.
Hannah loved the ranch and loved her grandmother. She tried to do her best, and she got a big reward. She was God’s gift to her grandmother and the ranch. And the ranch was God’s gift to her. Funny how God’s unexpected adventures can change your life forever.
