Words to Treasure
I will sing praise to the LORD. He has been so good to me.
Psalm 13:6
Meg and Krista had bought their concert T-shirts and now were finding their seats. This would be the best concert they had ever been to. The lead singer was great and their music was always excellent. Meg was hoping they would play her favorite song. She liked that song because she understood what they were trying to say about how amazing God was. She would remember this night for as long as she lived. The arena went dark, and the crowd grew quiet. In a flash of light the stage was bright and the band began to play. And it was her favorite song.
People have been singing songs about God for thousands and thousands of years. King David was a music guy and constantly wrote songs and poems about his life with God. He wrote them when he was worried, afraid, sad, or incredibly happy. It was kind of like his way of talking with God. God loves it when we use music, writing, drawing, or other types of art to show how we feel about him.
Life in Bible Times
Music was important to the Israelites, and they played all kinds of instruments. They had horns made out of animal tusks, wood or bone flutes, trumpets, drums, tambourines, rattles, harps, and other string instruments. They played music for fun, to worship God, and for battle calls.
