Don’t Draw a Blank

Words to Treasure

“Do not follow the crowd when they do what is wrong.”

Exodus 23:2

The wall was big, blank, and freshly painted white. Carson stood with his friends in the dark, uncertain what to do. Daniel had just pulled some cans of spray paint from his backpack. He then pulled out a notepad with a sketch on it. It was a really good drawing of a kid surfing a wave, but the wave looked like a street.

Daniel showed the sketch to his friends. “This is the perfect wall for it. I figure the four of us can paint it in a couple of hours.”

Carson knew the owner of the store — he was a nice guy. This wasn’t right. Carson had never done this before, and he just decided he wasn’t going to do it now.

Going past the store the next day, Carson saw the owner out painting his wall again — covering up Daniel’s graffiti. Carson put down his backpack and picked up a paint roller. “Need some help?” Now, that’s making an impression of the good kind.

Discovering Archaeology

People have been displaying their art on walls for thousands of years. Long ago, people painted images on cave walls. Later, people painted on constructed walls, like those found inside tombs or on the walls of their homes. Kind of like ancient wallpaper.
