Making Fun Not Fun

Words to Treasure

He makes fun of proud people who make fun of others. But he gives grace to those who are humble and treated badly.

Proverbs 3:34

Alton was walking out of the corner store, and three guys followed to stare at him. Alton got a lot of this because he was shorter than most people. One guy called out, “Hey, kid, where’s Snow White and the other short dudes?” They began to sing, “Hi ho, hi ho . . .”

An unhappy, deep voice came from behind them. “I don’t know where Snow White is . . . but you can guess where the giant is.” The three guys turned and looked up to see Alton’s taller-than-average best friend, Wyatt. “It would make me really, really happy if you apologized to my friend.” Wyatt passed Alton his soda.

Alton took the drink. “Believe me, you want to make Wyatt happy.” The guys mumbled an apology as they headed in the opposite direction. The two friends walked home drinking cold sodas.

People may pick on you, call you names, and act like jerks, but if you have one good friend, that’s all you need. One true friend to hang out with is worth a billion jerks.

Did You Know?

A big gang of teens were making fun of the prophet Elisha because he had very little hair. But Elisha prayed, and two bears came out of the woods and made chew toys out of 42 of the guys.
