A Little Fixing Up

Words to Treasure

Then Hezekiah worked hard repairing all the broken parts of the wall. He built towers on it. He -built another wall outside that one.

2 Chronicles 32:5

The work was hard with the muddy ground, but the last two weeks of fixing up the trail had been the most fun Toby and Phil had ever had. They had volunteered to be part of a team to build small bridges, walkways, and stairs. Toby cut some more wood for the next little bridge over a swampy patch. As he walked through the mud, his feet sank until his boots were almost covered. Cool. Phil was hammering the boards in place when Toby picked up a big handful of mud and threw it at him. Phil’s hair was covered in mud. Soon the entire team was flinging mud until they looked like swamp creatures. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

Work can be fun! It feels great to be part of a team that is working together to make a difference in your town or city. There are lots of volunteer projects you and your family can get involved in. You don’t have to have a lot of skills; just work hard and have fun.

Discovering Archaeology

Hezekiah had a long tunnel built to allow water to flow from one part of Jerusalem to another. Ancient writing tells us that two gangs of workers started at each end and dug toward each other. But the two teams almost didn’t meet. They almost dug past each other. But one smart crew heard the sound of digging from the other team and dug toward the sound.
