Words to Treasure
I would gladly treat you like my children. I would give you a pleasant land. It is the most beautiful land any nation could have.
Jeremiah 3:19
Ruby sat on the bench beside her brother Scott. She was feeling better now. She would never ride the rollercoaster that many times again. Being stubborn was just stupid.
“Scott,” Ruby said as she leaned against him. “I’m sorry for not listening to you. It won’t happen again.”
Scott nodded as he watched the kids throwing baseballs at stacked milk jugs at the game booth. “Follow me.” He gave the man money and got five baseballs. He aimed the first ball and knocked down all the jugs. Soon a crowd of kids was watching as Scott kept knocking down milk jugs.
The man at the booth shook his head. “Kid, you have a rocket arm. Which prize do you want?” Scott pointed to the biggest, pinkest stuffed bunny Ruby had ever seen. Scott gave it to Ruby.
“I don’t deserve it,” Ruby talked from behind the gigantic toy. “Thanks, big bro.” Brother, sister, and pink bunny walked together down the midway.
God is like that too. When we ask for his forgiveness and stop doing wrong things, he wants to give us the biggest and the best things in the world.
In the Bible, a good place to live is described as “flowing with milk and honey.” Kind of weird, but in ancient times honey was an expensive and special sweet. So it was a way of saying the place was full of good things. Why flowing with milk? Well, it meant that the pastures would make your animals strong and healthy. Which meant lots of milk.
