Words to Treasure
“Does anyone believe in me? Then, just as Scripture says, rivers of living water will flow from inside them.”
John 7:38
Thomas and Kai walked home from the movie theatre. It had been a really good movie, but the boys couldn’t agree on what the story meant.
Thomas tried to explain again. “It was about the friend that stood by him through the whole thing. The movie’s about friendship no matter what.”
Kai shook his head. “The movie is not about friendship. The movie is about how good fights evil and wins. That’s the most important part of the film. Who cares if his friend went along or not?”
“What are you two arguing about?” They turned around to see their friend Emily behind them.
Thomas gave Kai an irritated look. “We can’t agree on what the message of a movie is. Good vs. evil or friendship?”
Emily licked her popsicle. “Did you both like the movie?” The boys agreed on that. “That’s the most important thing. Besides, maybe you’re both right.” Emily continued her walk down the street. The boys looked at each other. Could they both be right?
That’s kind of like the last chapters of Daniel. People can’t agree on what it all means. They have different ideas, just as Thomas and Kai had different ideas. But the important thing is that they all love the Bible.
