Words to Treasure
Jerusalem will be my holy city. People from other lands will never attack it again. At that time fresh wine will drip from the mountains. Milk will flow down from the hills. Water will run through all of Judah’s valleys.
Joel 3:17 – 18
With the help of the community and some really smart experts, the pond was cleaned up. They restocked the pond with fish, frog eggs were placed in the reeds, and even turtles were released. Bird nest boxes and bat boxes were built. Butterfly plants were planted around the edge. Everything was done to make this a beautiful home for people and animals. The pond was a pond again because people were willing to change their bad habits. They listened and cared.
Tess, Brandon, and Shane watched a slow-moving turtle climb out of the water onto a rock to enjoy the sunshine. A dragonfly darted past, inspecting the new place. This was the start of a very good thing.
God didn’t like being upset and angry with his people. He didn’t want to punish them! He just wanted to love Israel and give them a good life in a beautiful home. They just needed to care about what was right and stop doing evil. That would make things right again. Just like the pond.

What the prophet Joel was telling his people is that God loves you and will reward and bless you now and in the future if you just change. How hard can that be?
