Words to Treasure
Tell those who do what is right that things will go well with them.
Isaiah 3:10
The telephone rang late at night, and it woke up Hannah. She heard her mom talking on the phone. Hannah crept out of bed and tiptoed into the living room of their apartment. Mom hung up the phone. “Your grandmother’s sick and has gone to the hospital.”
Hannah looked out the window at the winter blizzard raging outside. “Who is looking after the ranch?”
“Palmer is looking after things right now.”
Hannah pulled her suitcase from the closet. “It takes more than one person to look after the ranch. We have to go right away, Mom.”
“Honey there’s a blizzard out there. The roads will be bad.”
She started filling the suitcase. “Grandma and the llamas need us.”
Hannah was ready to face some dangers and do what it takes to come to the rescue because she loved Grandma Sadie, the ranch, and the animals. That’s called commitment — being there all the time, not just when it’s fun. That kind of giving makes God proud.
Live It!
Hannah loved her grandmother and the ranch. Create some art or a scrapbook that shows the things you really care about. What do you have a strong commitment to? How do these people or things make you feel?
