Nice It Forward

Words to Treasure

“What great honor has Mordecai received for doing that?” the king asked.

Esther 6:3

Finn looked through his photo album before he went to bed. Finn lived with his mom because he didn’t have a dad. Sometimes that made him sad. But he did have a Big Brother named Brian. Brian spent time with him doing things like going to baseball or hockey games. Finn looked at the photographs of them on the rollercoaster, whitewater rafting, going to the dinosaur museum, and having dinner on a train. He could talk about guy stuff, and Brian listened. He was a good friend.

Finn climbed out of bed and wandered into the living room. “Mom.” She turned down the television. “Can we throw a party for Brian to thank him for being my Big Brother?”

Her eyes got all kind of sparkly, and she smiled. “I think that would be a really nice thing to do.”

“Okay.” Finn went back to bed.

Okay is right. When somebody does nice things for you, hey, you should do nice things back. That’s kind of like a no-brainer. Makes everybody and God proud of you.

King Xerxes wanted to reward Mordecai for saving his life. There are all kinds of people who do amazing things for you, such as your parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, coaches, and club leaders. It’s a crazy long list. Make sure you take some time to thank them for everything they do.
