Rescue Me!

Words to Treasure

The LORD takes care of those who are not aware of danger. When I was in great need, he saved me.

Psalm 116:6

Come on, Edgar, come on! You can do it.” Lee encouraged his dog to sniff the ground and search the snow. Edgar loved this searching game. The dog walked right past a snow mound, but then suddenly turned around and got all excited, barking and digging. Lee’s dad popped up out of the snow mound and gave the dog a big hug. “Good dog! You’re a good dog. You found me.”

One day, Edgar would have to go with Lee’s dad to a real emergency and save people’s lives. Lee’s family owned and trained service dogs, dogs that were bred and trained to help find people and things. His family and their dogs traveled all over the world helping find people trapped or lost after earthquakes or avalanches or storms.

Helping people caught in natural disasters was what Lee and his family did. But you don’t have to be an on-the-spot rescuer to help. You can send money, blankets, food, or clothing to rescue organizations. Or you can give blood when you’re older to show you care. Be there because you care.

Did You Know?

Speaking of disasters, did you know that Job experienced many disasters? Raiders stole Job’s oxen and donkeys, then his sheep got zapped by lightning, more raiders came and stole his camels, his servants all got killed, and then a strong wind blew down his house on top of his kids. This all happened in one day, but Job still loved God. (See Job 1.)
