Waiting Room

Words to Treasure

Let everything she has done bring praise to her at the city gate.

Proverbs 31:31

Alita placed the newspaper by the door. It was early in the morning, and her friend Carla was helping her with her paper route

Carla kicked at a rock as they walked to the next house. “How come you’re delivering newspapers? I thought you wanted to be an actor. You’re taking acting classes and going to all those auditions.”

“I do want to be an actor, and I still take acting classes,” Alita shrugged, “but waiting to be an actor can’t be my whole life. While I’m waiting, I do other things too, like delivering newspapers, playing soccer, and volunteering at the animal shelter. That’s so much fun.” She placed a folded newspaper by the next door.

Alita’s right. Waiting for something doesn’t mean you stop living until that special thing happens. Keeping busy while you’re working toward your dream will make you a happier and more positive person. Having a dream is good, but not if it takes over everything else in your life. Things will happen in God’s timing — so have fun while you wait.

People in Bible Times

Joseph knew that God had a bright future for him, but sometimes his life seemed to be going in the opposite direction. He was sold into slavery and later thrown into prison. But no matter how bad things got, Joseph always worked hard and did his best while waiting for his big break.
