Words to Treasure
“Come and follow me,” Jesus said. “I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.
Matthew 4:19-20
Ernst touched the huge snake the men of the village were carrying. It was an anaconda, and it was over twelve feet long. They had found it in the river by the village. Ernst and his family had come to Venezuela in South America to work in a medical missionary hospital. Ernst got along with the kids of the village, and every day seemed like an adventure. Today it was a gigantic man-eating snake adventure. The men let Ernst have a photograph taken standing beside the snake. They told him anacondas could get up to 26 feet long!
“Do you miss movie theatres, fast food, and all that other stuff back home?” teased his dad as they backed away to let the researcher and his team measure the snake.
“Dad, I’m really glad we came here. I know I gave up some stuff, but I’m never ever going to forget coming here. This is great!”
Sometimes we have to give up things to go on the adventures God wants us to go on. Are you willing to do that?

Jesus told a story about a pearl merchant who found the most beautiful pearl he had ever seen. He sold everything he had to own that pearl. God is like that beautiful pearl; we have to be willing to give up everything or change the way we live to do things God’s way. (Matthew 13:44 – 46.)
