Smart Shopping

Words to Treasure

She considers a field and buys it.

Proverbs 31:16

Kate opened up the folder with all her notes and information in it. She was buying the biggest, most important purchase of her life. She was buying her very first dog, with her own money. She had spent months researching what type of dog breeds she liked. She had narrowed it down to three dog breeds. Then she had read everything she could about them. She made an appointment to talk to a veterinarian about them. Then she went to three dog shows and talked to people there. She got more information and some names of good breeders. She even researched dog-obedience classes.

After all that, she picked the type of dog she wanted and phoned the breeder. They had some puppies ready to look at today. Kate pulled out her list of questions to ask the breeder. She had done everything possible to be a smart shopper and responsible owner.

Kate’s mom called up the stairs, “Ready to go, sweetie?”

Kate closed her file. “I’m so ready.”

Wise people never rush into important decisions.

Live It!

Have you ever bought anything on a whim and really regretted it later? Lots of people buy pets because they’re cute but give them away later because they’re just too much unexpected work. Or they buy expensive things that they never use, like that unicycle covered in cobwebs in the garage. So be wise, plan ahead, and be shopper smart.
