Words to Treasure
What about someone who says in front of others that he knows me? I tell you, the Son of Man will say in front of God’s angels that he knows that person.
Luke 12:8
Judd played on the drum set in the music store. Some boys from school walked in, but they pretended they didn’t even know him. The storeowner, Mr. Wakemen, glanced over with a frown at the boys’ behavior. Mr. Wakemen was letting Judd practice in the store until he could buy his own drum set.
The shop door chimed open and in walked Yager. The boys turned and stared. He was a drummer for a pretty famous rock band. Mr. Wakemen shook Yager’s hand, and the two men chatted. After a while, Yager walked over to Judd. “Hey, Judd! You’ve improved since I was last here.”
Judd shrugged. “Trying.”
Yager pulled up a chair. “Play some more. Don’t be shy.” Soon Judd was getting a drum lesson from a famous drummer. The other boys watched in complete awe. Yager looked over. “You know those fellas?”
Judd shook his head. “Not really. I don’t think they like me.”
“Oh! Their loss.” They went back to drumming.
Those boys missed out on a great opportunity because of their exclusive behavior. Don’t make the same mistake they did.
Live It!
If you tell people you know you love Jesus, guess what? Jesus is going to say he knows and loves you in front of all God’s angels. But if you pretend as if you don’t know Jesus, guess what? In front of God’s angels, Jesus isn’t going to know you either. And that’s not good. (See Luke 12:8 – 9.)
