Haven

Words to Treasure

He will be like a place to hide from storms.

Isaiah 32:2

The sailboat climbed the crashing waves. Wind whistled through the rigging. This was the worst storm Hayley and her grandpa had ever been in. Soaked by cold seawater, she was glad to be wearing her full-body survival suit. They had taken the sails down and were using the motor, searching the shoreline for the hidden entrance to the little cove.

They had to be careful the wind didn’t blow them onto the rocks. Finally they slipped into the protected cove. Hayley threw out the anchor when her grandpa gave her the signal. When everything was secure, they gratefully went down below into the cabin.

“Nothing to do but wait out the storm.” Grandpa put the kettle on for hot chocolate and found some cookies. The quiet waves of the cove rocked the sailboat softly. The cabin was warm and they were safe from the storm.

You know, hanging out with God is a safe place. Like a quiet place to hide from storms or a shady place on a hot day. It just feels good.

People in Bible Times

Isaiah was one of God’s prophets who lived during the time the kingdom was divided into Israel and Judah. But the really amazing thing is that Isaiah told people what Jesus would be like hundreds of years before he was even born. How’d he know Jesus was like a safe haven? God told him, of course!
