Words to Treasure
Tears are flowing from our eyes.
Lamentations 1:16
Amy came home from the airport. Her best friend was moving halfway around the world. She didn’t know what to do with all the sad feelings she had inside, so she wrote a poem and drew a picture about her friend Sylvia. Amy decided she would write a letter to Sylvia about all the good times they shared. When you feel sad, write a poem or draw a picture about how you feel and then put it away. Sometime later when you want to remember that time, take it out and look at it. There is no right or wrong way to write a sad poem. Just write what you feel. Having both sad and happy times is normal.
The book of the Bible called Lamentations is really a book of sad poems. Many think these poems were written by the prophet Jeremiah after the Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem. Writing poems helped Jeremiah get all his feelings out.
