December 15

Christmas Glitter

Words to Treasure

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you.”

Luke 2:11

Adrianna and her mother walked through the Christmas-glittered mall. They walked past Santa’s Magic Mountain Train Trip to Wonderland. Her mom stopped to look in a shop window.

“Mom,” Adrianna said as she stopped beside her mom. “Do we actually know that December twenty-fifth is Jesus’ birthday? Was his birthday written down somewhere?”

Her mother smiled at her. “I don’t think so.”

“Then how do we know for sure?” Adrianna studied the manger scene in the mall right beside Santa’s train.

Here’s the inside story on the date of Jesus’ birth: We don’t know the date. Some Christians even celebrate Jesus’ birthday on January seventh. No big deal, though, because what day it falls on isn’t really the point. What is the point is that on whatever day you celebrate Christmas or in whatever way, you stop and remember the most important birthday in history.
