Words to Treasure
“As soon as I heard the sound of your voice, the baby inside me jumped for joy.”
Luke 1:44
Henry looked at the little black and white photo. “So that’s my baby brother inside you?” Henry asked, as he looked at his mother’s round belly. “He must feel pretty squashed in there. What does he do in there all day?”
His mom smiled. “Grows, sleeps, moves around.”
“Moves around. Really? Can he hear me?”
“He sure can,” his mother replied.
Henry leaned close and shouted at his mom’s belly. “Hi, Charlie! Charlie, you won’t bite my finger, will you?”
Babies are people even before they are born. They hear the voices of their family and even get hiccups in there. The Bible tells the story of two babies who had a special relationship before they were even born: Jesus and his cousin John.
People in Bible Times
Even when baby John the Baptist was in his mother’s womb, he was excited about his new unborn cousin Jesus coming to save the world. Babies know important stuff! Who knew? God did.
