Words to Treasure
The old is gone! The new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Braden,” his new teacher called to him. “You wanted to talk to me?” Braden sat down beside her desk. “Mrs. Cooper, I thought you should know . . . I’m smart, but over the last few years I’ve had a bad attitude about school.”
“Really.” Mrs. Cooper rested her chin on her hands.
“Last year I put snakes, crickets, and three slugs in Mr. Rodriguez’s desk. I talked in class, didn’t do my homework, and I broke the school record for the number of times being sent to the principal’s office in one year.”
Mrs. Cooper smiled. “Braden, why are you telling me this?”
“Well,” he paused. “I thought I should, you know, be open about everything. I’m going to try to do better this year.”
“Thank you. I’m glad you were honest with me. This is a good start to a new year, Braden.” Mrs. Cooper smiled. “I love mice, crickets, slugs, and snakes.”
“How about spiders?”
“Love spiders.” She laughed as Braden left the room.
Even if your past behavior isn’t the greatest, being honest about it and working toward a better future is exactly the type of person God’s proud of.
Live It!
Funny thing is, when you’re honest about yourself, you never have to hide any secrets. People will always know exactly who you are and who you hope to be in the future. Honestly!
